PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND FEATURES
The silver Sun Lion necklace celebrated Kalevala Jewelry's 60th anniversary in 1997. The bushy-crested beast of the jewelry, designed by goldsmith Pia Åkerblom, is a copy of the lion that adorned the lid of the round reliquary box attached to the chain of the crucifix that belonged to the medieval silver treasure found in Joensuu, Haliko in 1887. The necklace was made of bronze, silver and gold. The first 180 gold necklaces were numbered and made of genuine Lapland gold. The sun lion became one of the best-selling Kalevala jewelry sets of all time. In addition to showy necklaces, the Aurinkoleijona family included bracelets and earrings, as well as festive cufflinks and tie clips for men.
